Built for a professor, this two-story Queen Anne house has a pyramidal-roofed square tower, an elaborate bargeboard in the front gable, and a porch that wraps the projecting front bay with a spindle frieze. On the Murdock-Grandstaff House (1907; 213 Center Street), a more elaborate spindle frieze features knobs that form a series of ellipses.
