Muhlenberg Hall stands out among the grand houses that line N. Muhlenberg Street. When it was constructed for local businessman Clyde E. Walton and his wife, Maude, the Colonial Revival house was the largest and most impressive in town. A monumental semicircular Ionic portico shelters a central front door flanked by sidelights and topped by an elliptical fanlight with tracery. Above the door is a small balcony with a cast-iron balustrade fronting a group of three windows consisting of a taller round-arched window between two segmental-arched windows. The house was acquired in 1963 as the national headquarters for the Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority and named for Mabel Lee Walton, sister of Clyde, who served as the sorority's national president from 1913 to 1947.
