This Modernist library is sited on a prominent hillside. James Hunter, a Boulder architect, used a splashing fountain to separate the parking lot from the glazed, concave facade. The two-story building of brick, precast concrete, and glass expands northward beyond the well-designed, welcoming service desk. The library is named for Andrew McClelland, a wholesale grain and flour dealer who parlayed South Pueblo real estate into a fortune. He and his wife, Columbia, also donated the McClelland Orphanage, a Colonial Revival complex at 415 East Abriendo Avenue, extending to Lake Avenue and Madison Street.
