The Colorado Chieftain for October 3, 1889, described this Romanesque Revival church as “a regular little gem in church architecture, complete and perfect in every respect.” It elaborated: “The walls are built of pink stone, cut to represent the natural fracture of the rock, and consequently do not present any of the parallel lines and right angles which are usually seen in cut stonework.” This red sandstone is showcased in a tower on the northeast corner. The arch of the entrance is echoed in a large arched window on the north wall, and the apse has a row of Tiffany stained glass windows.
