This impressive brick adaptation of James Gibbs's St. Martin-in-the-Fields (1724) in London is fronted, like its prototype, with a giant-order Corinthian portico. In 1981 the original wooden elements of the steeple were replaced with synthetic components in an effort to reduce future maintenance costs. Fortunately, the copy replicates all the original detail. Centenary's tower provides a handsome and familiar focal point from numerous vantage points throughout the city.
