The one-story structure of native stone was home to the Bluestone Manufacturing Company, which produced materials used to mill ore. The business did well during the Comstock heyday of the 1860s and 1870s; but it ceased operation by 1895, and the building fell into disrepair. In the 1980s the Comstock Historic District Commission assumed ownership of the building and gave it to Lyon County. Since then, the structure has been extensively rehabilitated and currently houses a district court. The Bluestone Building is composed of a coursed ashlar facade with stone block quoins and randomly laid stone side walls. A low parapet on its front elevation rises above three bays, pilasters, and segmental-arched openings.
