The Odeon Saloon and Billiard Parlor provided recreational space as well as a meeting room on the top floor for fraternal groups. Notables who stayed there include Mark Twain and Adolph Sutro, the mining entrepreneur. President Ulysses S. Grant spoke from the balcony in 1879 as part of his tour of the Comstock. The two-story brick Italianate structure has a large pedimented parapet. Four windows pierce the front elevation of the upper floor, which includes a wood balcony resting on a one-story porch consisting of thin posts joined by delicate brackets to the balcony floor.
