The hotel, built as one of the first lodging houses in the Comstock, is visible to passersby heading to and from Virginia City. The simple stone and brick building contains a first-floor saloon and guest rooms on the second floor. A front porch on shaped balusters with balcony above embellishes the street facade. In 1987–1988 new owners renovated the original structure and added a large wood complex to the rear to provide more hotel rooms.
