Scattered through the region are remarkable clusters of buildings such as this. A waterpowered mill was built here to serve the original Lititz community in 1756. It burned in 1775 and was replaced with this handsome stone mill with simple shed dormers like those of Ephrata Cloister (LA34) and the chevron-planked door similar to examples near Schaefferstown in Lebanon County. The complex also includes a half-timber frame granary infilled with brick nogging, a log house, and a magnificent Georgian mansion, presumably the miller's house.
