Buff brick and limestone in a subdued Beaux-Arts style were Wyeth and Cresson's challenge to red brick neighbors. They responded most directly to an all but equally monumental row house by Wood, Donn and Deming (see SK11) by continuing its horizontal regulating lines and mansard roof but opted for a strongly axial and symmetrical three-bay row house facade. Unusual design features include placing the ornate segmental pedimented door frame on the second floor (rather than at the entry) and a separately composed roof, with two elaborate rectangular dormer windows framing a small oval one rather than adhering to the vertical lines established by three floors of windows below.
