1906 Keep House, 1908 Peyton House, Nathan C. Wyeth and William P. Cresson. 1937 renovation, Frederick H. Brooke. 2249 and 2251 R St. NW

Wyeth was involved in the design of both of these houses. In partnership with Cresson, he erected 2251 in 1906; two years later he designed 2249 on his own. The buildings are linked by the same cubic massing, common cornice lines, limestone facades, and by a double arch leading to garages, probably done in Brooke's 1937 renovation to accommodate the Swedish Embassy. Their similarities are striking and their differences subtle: the Peyton House has five bays in comparison to the Keep House's three.
