More subdued than its later neighbors, this stucco building has low, overhanging bracketed eaves and a red tile roof that give its simple, three-bay classical facade a vaguely Spanish Renaissance appearance or a Mediterranean flavor. The uneven grid created by the widely spaced but vertically linked bays of the upper two stories sits uncomfortably on the ashlar basement story, partially due to the low roofline but also perhaps because the architects were attempting to create a hybrid, an urban country house.
