Bear Lake Comfort Station

1941. West end of Bear Lake parking lot (NR)

A fine example of the National Park Service's rustic architecture, this humble frame structure blends into its natural environment. The concrete foundation is faced five feet high with massive boulders and rounded rocks. A shake shingle roof, projecting log ridgepole and half-log rafters, and a small stone chimney reinforce the rustic character of this rest stop on a forested slope.
