1880. 1028 Grand Ave. (southwest corner of Pitkin St.)

A plain building with an ambitious name, the Grand Central Hotel housed the first school in Grand Lake shortly after Winslow Nickerson opened the hotel in 1880. The original hewn log hotel with its large stone fireplace and chimney on the east end of the structure is now the Corner Pub. The side-gabled building has received various functional additions over the years. It is now a long, low, board-and-batten-clad structure devoid of architectural pretensions. Inside, a simple column and brace arrangement keeps the ceiling fairly even though the floor is not.
