This Gothic Revival brick cottage is a perfect foil to the overblown Greek Revival Smithsonia across the street. Baggett built the Fredericksburg Courthouse, which Renwick designed (
FR6
), and hence, at least locally, Renwick is thought to have designed Baggett's house. That much of the design is Renwick's is doubtful, since the house is somewhat tame by his standards.
