Just before reaching Mo-Pac Expressway from the west on Barton Springs Road, a narrow drive leads up the ridge to a natural bluff on the edge of the Colorado River to this well-hidden and much-loved Austin treasure. The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) built the gabled, one-story, limestone lodge that is typical of CCC rustic park architecture. The interior has a large room with impressive fireplaces, stone benches, heavy exposed trusses, and a wagon-wheel chandelier. The large terrace offers an expansive panorama of the city skyline to the east.
