Tucked into the triangle where Main Street splits into two roads, Union Church is one of the county's oldest. It is a small and simple Flemish bond brick building with a gable roof topped by an open belfry and a broad wooden frieze along the sides. The church was used as a hospital by Confederate and Union forces during the Civil War and many soldiers are buried in the cemetery surrounding the church.
