This delicate building with interior-end chimneys, small pedimented porch, and dormer windows is one of the small brick libraries donated to rural Virginia communities by diplomat David K. E. Bruce, a native of Charlotte County. In the rear ell, reached by a separate entrance, were the segregated reading room for African Americans, the bathrooms, and the librarian's office. The county now uses the building for other purposes.
