Situated at the edge of the commercial district and atop one of the town's few hills, this building is an architectural statement of the power of the Baptist Church in Southside. An impressive temple-form Roman Revival building, the brick church is set on a high podium with a pedimented portico supported by six Ionic columns. Below a modillion cornice, Ionic pilasters frame the side windows set in shallow panels.
