A three-and-a-half-story, round corner tower with a conical roof gives an unexpected medieval flavor to this two-story orange-red brick fire station. A weathervane on the tower depicts a fireman, known locally as Old Uncle Jake, pointing out a fire. The building includes a stone stringcourse, decorative arched window surrounds, and a large round-arched bay opening for the fire trucks. Charles Broadway Rouss, a prominent local businessman, gave five thousand dollars for the construction of the building.
