This modern church uses local stone, wood, and slate with bands of stained glass windows to enclose and shelter its sacred space. Its asymmetrical and roundish shape is accented with stone buttresses and wide overhanging eaves that appear to hug the ground and then rise to soaring vaults in two places: at the altar paralleling 3rd Street and at the entrance opposite it. Slate-covered supports slant inward to emphasize the altar space within. Farther along the walls, gill-like sections of stained glass make the interior of the church remarkably light, emphasizing its vaulted ceiling, and they successfully tie the church to its corner site.
