This, the newest courthouse in western Pennsylvania, uses the geometry of classical forms to evoke the proper dignity, but it is stripped of their applied ornamentation. Built of beige limestone, the courthouse consists of two rectangular two-story sections flanking a central double-height curved portico that marks the entrance, above which is a domed cupola. The concrete and glass Brutalist-style annex northwest of the new courthouse was designed in 1974 by Beaver architects, and the newer sections were designed by architects from Beaver Falls.
