Edith Bolling's second husband was President Woodrow Wilson, whom she married in 1915. During the months after his stroke in 1919, she assumed some of his duties until Warren G. Harding took his place as president in March 1921. Bolling was born and raised in a second-floor apartment in this building. The long two-story brick building with three modified storefronts on the first floor was apparently built in three sections that were united by a false third-story parapet, now with wooden shutters over the fake windows.
