This large white-painted frame church on a brick base is dominated by two square towers of different heights that step forward on each side of the central gable front. The pointed-arched windows give the church a Gothic Revival styling. The AME Church was founded in 1816 in Philadelphia by Methodist minister Richard Allen, who was formerly enslaved.
