Indiana limestone with terracotta trim covers the four stories and basement of this dignified Beaux-Arts classical edifice. Eight three-story columns with Ionic capitals front the recessed second-story balcony. Triangular pediments top flanking bays whose recessed fenestration is edged by engaged Doric columns. The roof balustrade frames a central round clock tower. The stonework emphasizes the round-arched doors and windows at ground level. Inside, an elaborate ironwork staircase graces the opulent lobby. Interior stair treads, wain-scoting, columns, some floors, and one courtroom are finished with white Colorado marble.

The courthouse is flanked on its south and west sides across a courtyard by two-and three-story contemporary buildings faced with wide, horizontal bands of brick and rough-formed concrete and joined by elevated crosswalks.
