Gilbert Underwood, a prominent Los Angeles architect, also designed UP depots for Omaha, Nebraska, and Topeka, Kansas, as well as famous rustic lodges for Bryce Canyon, Grand Canyon, Yosemite, and Zion national parks. Underwood's custom design for Greeley framed a one-story poly-chromatic brick depot with twin parapeted entry bays bearing the UP emblem in terracotta medallions atop elaborate surrounds. The railroad abandoned the building in 1983, but both the exterior and the interior, with its fine stenciled designs and wooden trusses, ticket counter, and benches, have been resurrected by the city for Amtrak service.
