An oversized square tower and massive, rough stone porch columns are striking features of this landmark, built on a Greek cross plan. The enormous rhyolite columns and spandrels of the curved, south-facing porch lend an earthiness to this church, whose pastors initially also served as presidents of nearby Colorado College. Henry Rutgers Marshall, a prominent New York architect and author, worked with two Denver architects on a design reminiscent of H. H. Richardson's work in its bold textures, massive stonework, and tight craftsmanship.
