On rainy days, whiffs of horse manure still haunt this brick and timber storage barn and corporate offices for the city's pioneer horse streetcar firm. But the fourth-story false front of brick exemplifies the ambitions facades of the Gilded Age. A $9 million project carried out in 1993–1994 brought retail development to the ground floor with forty-three lofts above.
