Insurance agent and investor William H. Pierce built his substantial Queen Anne house on his marriage to Julia Baird. It is located on a spacious corner lot surrounded by oak trees in a neighborhood adjacent to the commercial downtown. Many of the houses here date from around the turn of the twentieth century. This asymmetrically massed, two-story frame house is sheathed in weatherboarding and shingles and features a conical-roofed corner tower, a polygonal wraparound porch, and a hipped roof with cross gables, one of which contains a stickwork wheel design. The house is now a bed-and-breakfast.
