The massive, mildly Brutalist courthouse, built following a controversial decision to demolish the historic courthouse, makes a strong contrast with the lower rooflines of the surrounding urban fabric. This buff-colored brick building of four stories has recessed windows of dark-colored glass. The first- and second-story windows are visually merged by the use of dark-colored spandrels, which gives the appearance of a three-story building with a strong base. Courtrooms are on the three upper stories.
