The brick Oakley House, an unusual Arts and Crafts building with flared rooflines that give an Oriental flavor, was built for George D. and Julia Lester Oakley, a daughter of the builder of the innovative Castle (HR17). Across the street is the house built in the 1930s by and for her brother, G. T. Lester. Stacked like blocks, the residence has a small second story atop the larger first story. Balustrades, looking almost like battlements, and projecting central balconies span the first- and second-story facades.
