With decor by the brilliant stained glass artist Nicola D’Ascenzo and a richly ornamented cast-stone Art Deco facade with bronze window detail, this is perhaps the best surviving example of the phenomenally successful automat fast food chain that spread from Philadelphia to New York City and Washington in the 1920s and 1930s. Another interesting Art Deco building is the miniskyscraper (1927) with its great sculpted eagles by Ritter and Shay for the 69th Street Terminal Title and Trust, just west of the McClatchy Building (
