Like the Presbyterian church (BD4), this building is also Greek Revival, but more modest. The church has no portico but is pedimented and has a louvered square belfry with pilasters and a diminutive spire. Built as the first Methodist Church, it was sold in 1886 to the Episcopalians as a church for freedmen. Soon afterwards, a day school, no longer standing, was added for the education of African American children. In 1969, the Bedford Historical Society acquired the building and restored it.
