Many of the town's imposing early houses are located along Peaks Street. This Italianate house with Queen Anne touches features a central square tower that incorporates the house's entrance and is capped by a concave mansard roof. Polygonal window bays, corner brackets supporting decorated gable ends, stone window hoods, slate roof, and wooden trim display a late Victorian-era gusto for mixing materials. On the same block at number 512, the Italianate house (c. 1870) known as Kingston once served as the dining room and principal's house of Belmont Seminary that operated on the site of Bedford High School (see

) from 1890 to c. 1898. The building has a centered gable breaking the line of the low, hipped roof, eaves brackets, and side-lights framing the first- and second-story central entrances. The porch is a later addition.
