The Virginia City and Gold Hill Water Company erected the small house at the top of the hill dividing Washoe and Eagle valleys as part of the Marlette Lake Water System. The woodframe building, now known as the Lakeview House, housed the water company's superintendent. Three water pipes nearby, laid between 1873 and 1887, brought water to the Comstock. The house remains nearly unaltered. Its L-shaped plan is embellished with a front-facing gable with jigsawn ornamentation in the gable peak. A porch nestled in the corner of the two wings has turned posts and spindlework along the roofline. Shiplap siding covers the walls.
