1927–1936. 45-3454, 45-3468, 45-3577, 45-3587, and 45-3590 Mamane St.

Honokaa contains a large sample of pre– World War II vernacular commercial buildings, including the Ujiki Store at 45-3454 Ma-mane Street, Yamato Store (number 45-3468), Sakata Building (number 45-3577), Hasegawa Dry Goods Store (number 45-3587), and the Yamatsuka Building (number 45-3590). Characterized by false fronts of either clapboard or tongue-and-groove, their bracketed cornices add to the dignity of the town. The Yamatsuka Building, constructed in 1936, is a rare example of Art Deco detailing applied to a frame building in Hawaii.
