A buff brick, neoclassical temple of finance, the former bank that anchors the corner has a distyle-in-antis facade, with Ionic columns supporting a full entablature of stone. A sensitive reconditioning undertaken in 1983 transformed it into the Summers County Library. Lettering in the frieze still identifies its original use, as does its architectural character.

A well-preserved stretch of Hinton's downtown extends to the east, on the north side of Temple Street. Two-, three-, and four-story brick commercial buildings, several capped with ornate parapets and pediments, hint at the city's former commercial prosperity. The popular trend during the 1950s and 1960s of updating storefront display windows is evident here.
