Designed by a Baltimore architect and built by Thomas B. Fitzgerald, the church rises majestically above Millionaires' Row. It is made more commanding by its massive and incredibly tall front tower. The tower, crowned with an octagonal spire and flanked by small, engaged circular turrets, stands before the church's large nave and transepts. The complex geometric massing of the church is complemented by stone belt courses in high contrast with the red brick walls. Unusual canted, gabled entrances project from the reentrant angles of the nave and transepts.
