Rebuilt in its original style after a fire in 1905 destroyed all but the walls and spire, this red brick High Victorian Gothic church is a twin of the First Baptist Church in Lynchburg (BD45), and thus probably by the same architect. Both churches are sited on a corner and have gables facing two different streets. They each have a distinctive square corner tower featuring an attached half turret and a soaring octagonal spire. After the fire at this Danville church, the church's rose windows were replaced with large elliptical windows and the entrance was changed.
