The two buildings combine white-painted classical trim with red brick walls that, at a modest scale, reflect the original coloration of the courthouse. The two-story office at number 1280 is said to have been built before 1843 and was a tailor shop in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Thomas Francis Goode built the single-story law office about 1870, using brick said to have been salvaged from the western dormitory at Randolph-Macon College (MC12).
