Billmeyer enlivened his marble-fronted miniature classical temple with a bas-relief fountain in the pediment to describe its purpose as the home of the city's water company, which was founded in 1816. The ceiling of the great interior room is the work of the Philadelphia Decorating Company. Restored in 1995 when the dropped ceiling was removed, it is well worth visiting.
