Charles Wetzel House

Charles Wetzel House

Charles Wetzel House William E. Fischer, Jr.
c. 1885, Charles Wetzel. 100 Church St.

For his own house, architect Wetzel interpreted the Queen Anne style in brick with white trim. Like his Thomas Beaver Free Library (
MT6), the massive house dominates the end of the block with a three-story octagonal tower at the corner. A stone foundation, shingles and spindlework on the upper level, projecting bay and porch on the front, two-story porches on the side elevation, and varied rooflines give the building great appeal. Wetzel's office was at 251 Mill Street.
