Grove Presbyterian is the third building in a grove of ancient oaks on this site where the congregation's original log church (1779) and brick church (1826) were constructed. Master builder Diehl used a combination of Romanesque and Gothic Revival elements in an expressively vertical stone building with a corner tower and spire, buttresses, roundarched windows, and a polychrome arched entrance. Directly across the street is Memorial Park with its obelisk-shaped Soldiers and Sailors Monument (1909).
