Allen J. Beaumont, an English-born attorney, commissioned a house described by the Pueblo Chieftain on March 10, 1889, as a “commanding and beautiful structure … of pink lava stone.” A. Morris Stuckert, a Denver architect, gave the one-and-one-half-story house a porch with twin semicircular bays on the east facade and a complex gable roof. A two-story stone and wood turret, large, arched stained glass windows of diverse shape and treatment, and decorative shingles further distinguish this Queen Anne Style eyecatcher. Stuckert also designed the nearby Pryor House (1889), 1325 Greenwood Street (NR), a more traditional and vertical Queen Anne design held to earth by a heavy sandstone first story and corner tower.
