Of the many Colorado churches founded by the Reverend Sheldon Jackson, this is the oldest and one of the finest. A tall, shingled steeple beckons worshippers of fine period architecture to this red sandstone landmark indebted to the Richardsonian Romanesque style. The Thatcher family donated the Tiffany glass for the Gothic-arched windows. Dark red mortar joints blend with the rich red-orange stone laid in a variety of sizes and shapes to provide a wealth of restrained detail.
