This and the Mayan Theater in Los Angeles may be the only surviving examples of movie palaces extensively decorated in Pre-Columbian motifs. Rescued from the wrecking ball in 1984, the theater has technicolor terracotta ornament and hand-painted and stenciled walls. Also rejuvenated are the facade's terracotta Indian chief and Aztec and Mayan poly-chrome trim by Julius P. Ambrusch of the Denver Terra Cotta Company. This exotic facade fronts an older red brick theater, the homey Queen Theater.
