This treasure chest in the Renaissance Revival style is cement-covered brick trimmed with Turkey Creek sandstone. Named for William N. Byers, the founder of the Rocky Mountain News and Denver's greatest booster, it is a single-room library. The large, finely crafted space has a fireplace under a vaulted ceiling, with basement meeting, storage, and office spaces. Denver artist Carlota Espinosa painted the large mural, Pasado, Presente, Futuro (1975), capturing the full sweep of Mexican-American history. As a center for children and for programs in English as a second language, it has been the cornerstone of the revived, Spanish-accented business district on Santa Fe Drive.
