The original courthouse, three brick stories with limestone trim, once had a steep tile roof and a cupola. A 1939 WPA renovation removed these, along with the top-floor courtroom, and added a carefully detailed west addition and new main entrance in a full-height, pedimented portico. Trim on the addition is concrete that closely resembles the original limestone, with recessed brick spandrels and a foundation of green-glazed brick.
