1915–1916, Alfred C. Bossom. 2 S. Main St.

English-born Bossom, who practiced architecture in New York City from 1906 to 1926, earned a reputation for designing handsome banks and high-rise buildings. Consequently he received commissions throughout the eastern United States and in the South. As was typical of his designs, this building has a tall ground story articulated with columns and pilasters to make a bold and prosperous statement at street level. Above, five stories with a grid of paired windows finish firmly with a prominent cornice.
