Early 19th century. North side of U.S. 50/220, west of the intersection with Mineral County 11

This substantial vernacular brick tavern with elementary Greek Revival details served travelers on the turnpikes, which crossed nearby. It was also the innkeeper's home, and a stairway from the master bedroom provided the only access to the daughter's room upstairs. The tavern represents several periods of building, although its primary architectural character derives from the 1830s, the decade the Northwestern Turnpike, which it faces, was built. The expansive porch is a later addition.
